Continue ShoppingHi, I’m Jane Nicholson — a cookbook author, food and lifestyle photographer, and the creator of Food Kids Love, a non-judgmental and accessible space where I share everyday inspiration for kid-friendly snacks, lunchboxes, and meals.
As the daughter of Korean immigrant parents, I spent much of my childhood helping in my parents’ restaurants and cafés, which sparked my love of cooking and sharing food with others. That early experience continues to shape everything I do — from celebrating cultural diversity through recipes to creating content that feels approachable, warm, and real.
These days, I live in sunny Los Angeles with my husband, our two kids, and our little rescue pup, Bear. Instagram: @food.kids.love
I’m a mom, cookbook author, and creator of Food Kids Love – always passionate about making meals fun, colorful, and kid-friendly. What started as packing lunches for my own kids turned into sharing ideas to help other families feel inspired in the kitchen.
I want to keep creating food that brings joy – especially for little eaters – and build a world where nourishing meals feel exciting, approachable, and full of love.
It’s like a mini canvas! A chance to pack variety, color, and care into a little box – and turn lunchtime into something joyful and nourishing.
Lots of fruits and veggies in fun shapes, rice balls, sandwiches, fruit, and little surprises like seaweed snacks and a sweet treat tucked in the corner.
What is your favorite part of our boxes and what colors have you chosen?
I love how sleek and sturdy they are—they make food look beautiful and feel special. I’m drawn to the soft pinks and earthy neutrals, but I also can’t resist a good pop of color!
These veggie rice balls are a fun, kid-friendly way to serve up warm, comforting bites packed with veggies. They’re easy to pick up and customize - perfect for little hands and busy days.
1. In a bowl, mix the warm rice, veggies, butter, sesame oil, sesame seeds and cheese until the cheese begins to melt and everything is evenly combined.
2. Shape into small, kid-sized rice balls with either a rice ball mold or your hands. (you can let the kids help with this part!)
3. Pack into bento lunchbox — easy to grab and enjoy!
Mild Soy Dipping Sauce
Whisk everything together and serve in a small dipping bowl. For younger kids, you can dilute it with a splash of water to mellow out the flavor.
